Staging Kit
By Harmony | October 18, 2008 | 12:18 pm
I got my Staging Kit in the mail last night. I’m flying to Philadelphia for a day and a half for some last-minute paperwork and orientation, then off to Kenya!
The travel schedule is pretty brutal. I’ll have to catch a red-eye to Philly in order to make it there for 1:30pm registration. The next day, I’m on a 7.5 hour plane trip to Amsterdam, then a 3-hour layover, then an 8-hour plane trip to Nairobi. I don’t do well on long plane rides, so I’ve got the feeling the journey will really, really suck. But I’m sure it will all be worth it in the end.
My Staging Kit contains *even more* paperwork to fill out. But I think I’m in the home stretch. Either the paperwork is getting easier, or I’m becoming a pro at it, because this time, it doesn’t seem so bad.
I also received a copy of the Digital Information Collection and Exchange (ICE) Catalog. While I’m in the Peace Corps, I will have access to a library of resources to help me with my projects. This CD was a sampling of some of those resources. There’s some pretty cool stuff in there. Well, cool to a geek like me, anyway.
In other news, I’m tying up loose ends nicely. No major setbacks yet (knock on wood)!
