Counting Down

7 weeks and 2 days until the program for which I’ve been nominated departs. Now I’m about 99% certain which program my recruiter chose for me. You see, Peace Corps has a firm 6-week rule for sending out official invitations. There is only one more October program leaving greater than 6 weeks from now - that’s Burkina Faso, scheduled to depart on October 12th.
I should know my fate in 9 days or less.
In the meantime, I’ve been checking my e-mail every morning. I heard somewhere that the Peace Corps Toolkit (which tracks my progress through the application process) updates once a day, in the middle of the night. Once it updates, I should receive an e-mail notifying me that there’s been a change in my status. The Toolkit won’t tell me the results however; it will only inform me that a decision has been made. Then I wait patiently to receive the official word via snail mail.
Meanwhile, another person in the group I’m tracking has been invited to Burkina Faso. That makes 5 known invitees so far. And none of them are me!
